Министр обороны ФРГ Урсула фон дер Ляйен призвала избранного президента Соединенных Штатов Дональда Трампа придерживаться политики НАТО и быть жестким в отношениях с Россией. Об этом глава военного ведомства заявила в эфире немецкого телеканала ZDF.

"Дональд Трамп должен четко сказать, на чьей он стороне. На стороне справедливости, мирного урегулирования и демократии или же ему все равно и он проявляет жест мужской дружбы" (цитата по ТАСС), - сказала фон дер Ляйен.

Кроме того, министр подчеркнула, что Трампу не следует воспринимать НАТО как бизнес. "Это не компания", - подчеркнула она.

8 ноября 2016 года 45-м президентом США был избран миллиардер Дональд Трамп. Канцлер ФРГ Ангела Меркель, комментируя сообщения об избрании Трампа, предложила работать с ним на основе демократических ценностей.

В апреле в ходе предвыборной кампании, еще до утверждения кандидатом в президенты от Республиканской партии, Трамп допустил распад НАТО. Тогда он подверг критике союзников по военному блоку, заявив, что те не оплачивают траты альянса наравне с США. Он отметил, что если союзники не начнут платить за участие в альянсе, то должны покинуть организацию. "И если НАТО распадется, то так тому и быть", - резюмировал Трамп.

Кроме того, Трамп неоднократно заявлял, что готов сотрудничать с Россией и ее президентом Владимиром Путиным. Именно этим объясняется обеспокоенность союзников США по НАТО перспективами общих действий против "агрессии" РФ, о которой члены альянса регулярно твердят с момента начала украинского кризиса.
